Adnan Syed: Guilty or Innocent

Adnan Syed The serial podcast is incredibly well made and put together. Koening shares the story in great detail and doesn't leave out any information from the listeners. After listening to the episodes of Serial, I became a lot more aware of investigations and the amount of work that needs to go into proving someone's innocence. I personally believe that Adnan is sadly guilty. Adnan has so much against himself, and even while creating the podcast, Sarah revealed more information that didn't make his case look so good. Hae Min Lee From the beginning, I thought it was wild how Jay, Adnan's friend, dragged himself into the story. He became part of the crime. And he told the police things only they would know. An example of this is the shallow grave they dug for Hae Min Lee. If Jay wasn't involved with the murder, and if he was lying to the police, then how could he know about the depth of the grave. Everything is a Remix

Ripoffs, Remakes, Remixes, Knockoffs, all words that critics use to describe creations made today. While watching 'Everything is a Remix' by Kirby Ferguson , I became much more aware of the amount of remixing that really goes on in today's media. Nothing made today is original. Everything fits in a genre or a subgenre. Everything has some inspiration from something else. Kirby shows many examples of these creators and creations in his mini-series. It blows my mind on how I never realized it before. When I notice familiar things in movies, I always just see it as 'easter eggs', small innuendos for the audience to enjoy, but they may only be called 'easter eggs' to avoid the c-word, "copying". One specific thing that really surprised me was when Kirby talked about Star Wars. Growing up with the films made me believe they were completely original, telling a long story throughout many films. Serial Podcast First Impressions

The Serial podcast is an "investigative journalism podcast" narrated by Sarah Koenig. The podcast was co-created and co-produced by Julie Snyder and Sarah. It was developed by This Americain Life. There are 3 seasons of the podcast with 32 episodes in total. BY TAYLOR HILL/GETTY IMAGES. I listened to season one, episode one of this podcast; titled The Alibi. The episode introduces the story of Adnan Syed and the murder of his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee. The episode is linked here if you would like to listen to it. My first impression of the podcast was good. It sounded professional and interesting. The creators do a good job at bringing listeners within the first 5 minutes of the episode. I really enjoyed the story and the voice overs Koenig did. I also like the idea of presenting investigative journalism in podcast form. Is Grade 12 English needed for University?

     As many people know (or have learned) University is hard. And it requires a lot of work. Many students drop out or go into great depths of struggle to make it through post-secondary education. The Charlatan quotes- " The 2011 Youth in Transition Survey (YITS) from Statistics Canada revealed that about 14 percent of first-year students drop out of their university program."   Students fight with debt and overall survival during and after college/university. This could be because they were not prepared for the amount of work they are given, or it could be a financial or mental health issue that is stopping them from their studies.      In high school, it is strongly recommended to take academic and university level English. Taking these courses can help get you into the school of your choice.
